Tuscany / Umbria Tour

Let’s cook and play together!  Your home base will be the luxurious villa from the movie Under The Tuscan Sun.  Magical location within walking distance to Cortona, two fabulous kitchens, outdoor wood burning pizza oven, pool room, luxurious bedrooms with gorgeous marble bathrooms, jacuzzi & swimming pool, indoor and outdoor area to relax.  We’re looking forward to a LOT of fun!

Itinerary

Day 1 – Saturday

  • 10am Rome pick-up at FCO Airport; stop for lunch / free time in Orvieto.  Arrive in Cortona in the late-afternoon.
  • Welcome Cocktail and Villa Tour
  • Settle In
  • Extensive Welcome Antipasto Dinner
  • After Dinner Drinks and Itinerary Briefing

Day 2 – Sunday

  • Breakfast at the Villa
  • Val di Chiana – Etruscan Tomb tour / explore Arezzo and lunch on own.
  • Cooking Class at the Villa with chef Michael. Assist Michael in preparing the four-course dinner menu of the evening.

Day 3 – Monday

  • Breakfast at the Villa
  • Visit historic Monastery / Vineyard – producers of wine and honey (tour & tasting).  Afternoon / Castiglione del Lago on the shores of Lake Trasimeno for lunch on your own and exploring.
  • Cooking Class at the Villa with chef Michael. Assist Michael in preparing the four-course dinner menu of the evening.

Day 4 – Tuesday

  • Breakfast at the Villa
  • Visit the hill towns of Chianti:  Lunch on your own with time to explore.  Learn about and taste the wines from the region; The grapes must be grown in the Chianti and contain at least 80% Sangiovese grapes. The remaining blend can be a mix of any other grape as long it is grown in the Chianti region. (typically Cabernet, Merlot or Syrah).
  • Cooking Class at the Villa with chef Michael. Assist Michael in preparing the four-course dinner menu of the evening.

Day 5 – Wednesday

  • Breakfast at the Villa
  • Morning Historic Tour Assisi – World Heritage Site. Afternoon visit to the pretty village of Deruta. Pottery demo and lunch on your own.
  • Cooking Class at the Villa with chef Michael. Assist Michael in preparing the four-course dinner menu of the evening.

Day 6 – Thursday

  • Breakfast at the Villa
  • Market Day- provision for dinner with Chef Michael. Lunch on your own. Afternoon excursion TBD.

Day 7 – Friday

  • Breakfast at the Villa
  • Cortona – Walking distance from the villa – Quiet day on your own to explore the village. Points of interest include the The Diocesan Museum of Cortona, Piazza della Republica, Panoramic views of Val di Chiana, churches from the 13th, 14th & 15th centuries and dozens of beautiful boutiques, relaxing cafe’s and gelato shops.  Perfect for a relaxing final day.

Day 8

  • Breakfast at the Villa
  • Depart Villa at 8:00 a.m. to FCO / Rome airport.
